Odom Engineering is partnering with McGill & Associates on the Rails to Trails Program in Rutherford County, NC. The former railroad line turned hiking and biking trail currently begins in Gilkey, passes through the towns of Ruth and Rutherfordton, and stops in downtown Spindale.
Odom Engineering is working jointly with the towns of Rutherfordton, Ruth, Spindale, Forest City and Rutherford County plan the trail extension from its current stopping point at Spindale Street to Forrest Hunt Elementary School in downtown Forest City. The extension will bring the trail length from 7.87 miles to 13.36 miles.
