David Hux brings a wealth of experience to our team as a Project Manager, having retired from 30 years of dedicated service in Municipal Government. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from Western Carolina University.
In his illustrious career, David spent the last 15 years with the City of Shelby, where he played a pivotal role in Water & Wastewater Utility Management. He progressively moved up the ranks, serving as the Assistant Utilities Director before eventually becoming the Director of Water Resources for eight years. In this capacity, he oversaw daily management operations, supervised a team of 44 employees, handled budget development and management, and coordinated capital improvement projects. Notably, David was deeply involved in managing $130 million worth of Water and Wastewater improvement projects for the City of Shelby.
Outside of his professional endeavors, David is an active member of the Pleasant City Church in Shelby, NC. He finds joy in spending quality time with his family, engaging in activities such as hiking, short trips, and attending sporting events. David and his wife are proud parents to two daughters, Madelyn and Jillian. Madelyn, who is married, teaches elementary school in Jackson County, and they share the joy of having a grandson named Parker. Jillian is currently pursuing her engineering studies at North Carolina State University.
